I have just finished these and thought i would share them with you all. (Only 2 more battalions to go to finish the Regiment, at least they will not be in all grey uniforms!)

A very swish looking unit. You must be a very proud dad! It was a revelation to me when I discovered how good the grey units could look ... and these look good!
And I'm only a little biased having Prussians myself and being a Calpe zealot.
Salute

Those are exquisite! I agree with von Peter- it is surprising how colourful grey uniforms can be made to look with a good paint job, contrasting facings and a stunning flag.
Looking forward to seeing more.

Alan,
Yes they are, I have another Reserve Bn and two Fusilier Bns to go to complete the Prussian Orbat for the Game. Mike is okay for the Russans and I think we have most of the Austrians, the French should also be easy.
Von Peter, Robert, SW,
Thanks for the compliments, I did enjoy doing these, the grey uniform was a lot easier than that of the line and Landwehr and I do think they come out quite well. The second Bn will be in Blue (need to look into whether the trousers were also blue) with the third being a very dark grey.

Hey Glen - nice looking unit. Just goes to show how that last piece of magic falls into place when you base up a whole battalion and give it a quality flag to defend. Now if only I could paint faster...

Martin, Giles, Jacko,
Thanks again for your kind comments on my efforts.
Martin, as an avid follower of your blog and seeing the pictures of a number of individual figures I must say I can't wait to see the finished unit based up and ready for action, understanding of course that I might be waiting a while!
Jacko, Tea!!!! Down in deepest darkest Wiltshire we hold weekend games at a pub! It can make for some interesting tactical decisions late on a Saturday! This game is being planned for October, current thoughts are for the weekend 18/19 which ties in nicely with the anniversary.

Hi Eugene/Glen,
I have just checked your wonderful pictures out again and had a closer look at your photoghraphy. You mentioned to me about taking photo's outside and I believe you have done that with these : Top quality, good depth of field and nice and clear. If I can reach this standard with my camera I will be a happy bunny.
Cheers,
Pat. |
